Chesapeake Regional Healthcare was established in 1976 and headquartered in South Hampton Roads, Virginia, North Carolina. It is a health system laser-focused on innovation. Chesapeake Regional has the best heart attack survival rates of the major systems in the region, a nationally accredited Chest Pain Center, and open-heart surgical care coming in 2024. Its hospital, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, is the only independent, community-based hospital in Hampton Roads. Chesapeake Regional consists of 330 licensed beds, over 600 physicians, and a staff of over 2,300 people. The hospital is a key provider for residents not only in Chesapeake, but throughout eleven counties of northeastern North Carolina, and surrounding cities in South Hampton Roads.
