The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a state agency in Florida. Its headquarters are in Tallahassee, Florida. The department provides social services in Florida to children, adults, refugees, domestic violence victims, human trafficking victims, the homeless community, child care providers, disabled people, and the elderly. The department of Florida was started in 1996 and the Florida Legislature split the former Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) into two new departments that are Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Florida Department of Health. The Florida Department of Children and Families consists of more than 12,000 employees across the state. The mission of the Department of Children and Families is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.
