The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is one of the government agencies in the State of Kuwait, was established in 1952 and was previously known as the Ministry of Electricity and Water until the name of Renewable Energy was added to the ministry. The main office of the Ministry is located in South Surra in the Ministry Zone. The current Minister of Electricity and Water is Dr. Jassim Al Ostad. More than three million consumers are served by the Ministry of Electricity and Water. It is responsible for the following activities: desalination, extraction, and use of groundwater, establishing, operating, and managing electric power transmission and distribution networks, and importing electrical energy through the electrical connection for use within the State of Kuwait.
