Overview

Radian Group Inc. is a diversified mortgage and real estate services business. The company's roots were planted in 1977 with the founding of its predecessor company, Commonwealth Mortgage Assurance Company (CMAC). In 1992, CMAC went public, then merged with Amerin in 1999 to form Radian. The company provides mortgage insurance and other products and services to the real estate and mortgage finance industries through its two business segments—Mortgage and homegenius. The Mortgage segment aggregates manages and distributes U.S. mortgage credit risk on behalf of mortgage lending institutions and mortgage credit investors, principally through private mortgage insurance on residential first-lien mortgage loans, and also provides other credit risk management, contract underwriting, and fulfillment solutions to its customers. The homegenius segment offers an array of title, real estate, and technology products and services to consumers, mortgage lenders, mortgage and real estate investors, GSEs, and real estate brokers and agents. As of December 31, 2022, the company had approximately 1,400 employees and earned revenue of 1.19 billion.
