Asia-Pacific Rooftop Solar Market Poised for 7.4% Growth as Renewable Capacity Expansion Accelerates

Published: Jan 2026

Asia-Pacific rooftop solar panel market stood at $18.8 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach $38.2 billion by 2035, expanding at a CAGR of 7.4% over the 2026 to 2035 forecast period. Rooftop solar and distributed photovoltaic systems are increasingly integral to Asia?Pacific countries’ clean energy strategies as the region prepares for rapid renewable expansion. While utility?scale projects will continue driving bulk additions, distributed and rooftop installations support local energy resilience, cut electricity costs and bring generation closer to end users in urban and industrial settings. Policy support, falling technology costs and ambitious national targets are encouraging this shift, strengthening market confidence and broadening opportunities for investments in rooftop solar across diverse markets from India to Southeast Asia.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Asia?Pacific (excluding China) renewable capacity is expected to grow by 670?GW between 2025 and 2030, nearly doubling the region’s renewables footprint. Solar photovoltaic systems are projected to account for about 75% of total renewable additions over this period, reinforcing solar’s dominant role in the regional energy mix. Meanwhile, the broader Asia?Pacific region, including China, installed 429.7?GW of PV capacity in 2024, bringing total regional capacity to more than 1.4?TW and representing 71% of annual global solar deployment.

Asia-Pacific Rooftop Solar Investments and Module Innovation

  • On December 4, 2025, a joint special purpose vehicle formed by TEPCO Holdings and ESR Group secured SGD 13.5 million, roughly 1.6 billion yen, in project financing from Taiwan’s Bank SinoPac. The financing is allocated to the development of rooftop solar installations across Singapore, with a combined capacity of about 20 MW.
  • In February 2025, Peak Energy Development Pte Ltd acquired a 1 MW rooftop solar system in Singapore that supplies around 1 GWh of clean electricity each year to Arkema. During the same period, Peak Energy also entered into a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Arkema’s Symphony Plant on Jurong Island, supporting Arkema’s plan to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 48.5% by 2030 under its Science Based Targets initiative.
  • In October 2024, JinkoSolar introduced its Next Generation TOPCon Technology panels under the Tiger Neo 3.0 series. The launch included modules rated up to 670 W for large-scale applications and a 495 W option positioned as the first of its kind for residential use.
