Recent Developments

In February 2021, ABB expanded its collaborative robot (cobot) portfolio with the new GoFa and SWIFTI cobot’s families, offering higher payloads and speeds, to complement YuMi and Single Arm YuMi in ABB’s cobot line-up. These stronger, faster, and more capable cobots will accelerate the company’s expansion in high-growth segments and meet the growing demand for automation across multiple industries.

In November 2020, Kawasaki Robotics introduced RS013N a new 6-axis robot with a maximum load capacity of 13 kg. The RS013N continues to offer the proven operational advantages of the R Series robots, complemented by a redesigned arm structure and weight reduction of the main unit. The new Kawasaki robot is optimized for use in numerous industries – including food and clean room applications. It offers excellent functional and environmental characteristics for assembly, material handling, machine loading and multiple other tasks.

In July 2020, Acieta, a leading manufacturer of industrial robotic systems announced the launch of a new high-speed robotic machine loading cell, the FastLOAD DR2000. The Acieta FastLOAD DR2000 helps increase machine utilization and is pre-engineered. Moreover, it can also be highly customized for use in many different applications involving a range of part sizes. It is designed so that operators can safely load and unload parts while the robot is in operation.

In November 2019, B&R announced the integration of ABB robots into its automation portfolio. With the ability to offer unprecedented levels of machine flexibility and precision, merging robotics with machine control into one unified architecture will enable manufacturers to embrace the trend of mass customization and optimize their lot size one processes.

In January 2019, KUKA launched a new generation of the KR QUANTEC series. With a payload capacity between 120 to 300 kg, the robots are designed for use in nearly every market segment – such as the automotive industry, the foundry sector, and the field of medicine, as well as for processing and handling tasks.
