Carbon Farming Market Valued at $1.4 billion in 2025, Set to Grow at a 10.8% CAGR

Published: Mar 2026

Carbon farming market was valued at $610.8 million in 2025 and is projected to reach $1,678.5 million by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 10.8% during the forecast Period (2026-2035). The shift towards regenerative agriculture, featuring practices such as direct seeding, residue management, and soil health restoration, is enhancing carbon sequestration. These techniques boost soil organic carbon while maintaining agricultural productivity, contributing to market growth. For instance, in November 2025, Mirova invested $30 million in Varaha's soil-based carbon project in India, targeting smallholder farmers in Haryana and Punjab. This investment, Mirova's largest in nature-based carbon strategies and its first in India, aims to transition over 337,000 farmers across 675,000 hectares to regenerative agricultural practices. These practices include direct seeding of rice and crop residue management, generating high-quality carbon credits, while also offering environmental and social benefits such as improved soil health, reduced water usage, enhanced air quality, increased yields, lower costs, job creation, and supporting female entrepreneurs in rural areas.

Private Credit Fund for Regenerative Agriculture and Soil Carbon

  • In April 2025, InSoil, a Lithuanian regenerative agriculture firm, launched a €50 million private credit fund to support European farmers in adopting eco-friendly practices. The fund, backed by a €20 million investment from the European Investment Fund (EIF), will provide 0% interest loans for soil carbon projects, promoting regenerative techniques like no-till farming and cover cropping. This initiative aims to improve soil health and biodiversity while enabling farmers to earn income through high-integrity carbon credits.
