Growing Collaborations Between Market Players and End-Users to Propel the Market Growth

Published: Jan 2024

The global defense extended reality (XR) market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 32.8% during the forecast period (2023-2030). Globally, with growing demand for immersive learning experience, rapid technological advancements, investments in XR market and collaboration between market players and end-users, the demand for XR solutions is growing in the defense sector. For instance, in August 2023, The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) allied command transformation collaborated with Latvia to host member-states for a novel 5G test bed for military-grade emerging technologies, including XR. In an announcement, the Latvian Ministry of Defense stated it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NATO’s Allied Command. With the initiative, it would use Latvia as a testing ground for military defense technologies. Both entities will experiment with the immersive defense platform at the ?daži military base. The battery of tests will determine how the military alliance will procure, develop, and roll out its technological initiative using 5G.Also, in August 2023, RE-liON partnered up with HTX and the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) to implement virtual reality (VR) system capable of recreating and customizing various building-fire scenarios. This partnership is focused on to enhance training effectiveness and preparedness for emergency responders in Singapore. In April 2023, GigXR, Inc., announced its reception of a second Phase II Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract. According to the company, this contract is aimed at the development of holographic simulation training specifically designed for the 354th Medical Group of the United States Air Force (USAF), stationed at Eielson, Alaska. The primary focus of this contract is to establish an immersive learning environment utilizing hyper-realistic holographic patients. This training aims to instruct future medics in navigating a critical checklist for the accurate treatment of severe combat injuries. This module will be integrated into GigXR's HoloScenarios, a mixed reality application facilitating learners to practice interventions with holographic equipment alongside hyper-realistic holographic patients, capable of presenting customizable and lifelike complications.
