According to the British Plastics Federation (BPF), expanded polypropylene (EPP) is a highly versatile closed-cell bead foam that provides a unique range of properties, including outstanding energy absorption, multiple impact resistance, thermal insulation, buoyancy, water, and chemical resistance, exceptionally high strength to weight ratio and 100.0% recyclability. EPP is offered in the grades required for a variety of applications, contingent on the technical specifications. In applications where energy management is crucial, including car bumpers and interior passenger safety components, high-density grades are utilized. Furniture and other consumer goods use medium densities, whereas low-density grades are utilized for packing.
Recent Development
- In March 2023, Electrolux Group introduced new, more sustainable packaging recycled and paper-based packaging with 70.0% less ink. The new packaging is being used for Electrolux and AEG small appliances. The Expanded PolyStyrene (EPS)-free packaging is made from paper-based material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, with a four-color print that uses 70.0% less ink.
