Technological Advancements in Catheters to Drive the Growth of the Global Intravascular Catheters Market

Published: Jan 2020

The global intravascular catheters market is projected to exhibit considerable growth at a CAGR of 8.4% during 2019-2025. The intravascular catheters are increasingly used for performing minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment of several chronic diseases. The key players of the global intravascular catheters market are making constant focus on the development of technological advanced intravascular catheters. The highly advanced intravascular catheters will reduce the level of the risk related to the use of these catheters. The growing usage of the intravascular catheters for the treatment of diseases is expected to propel the growth of the global intravascular catheters market.

In August 2019, Cook Medical launched the second generation of the 2.6 Fr CXI Support Catheters with platinum-iridium marker bands. The CXI catheter is used in small-vessel anatomy or super-selective anatomy for diagnostic and interventional procedures, including peripheral use. The use of platinum-iridium marker bands facilitates physicians with better visualization under fluoroscopy. These catheters come with an additional tip configuration and a new 135 cm length. Its stainless steel braid provides responsive torque and push ability, and the 2.3 Fr and 2.6 Fr sizes can fit coaxially in the 4.0 Fr size to increase the amount of support for the better treatment of the disease.

In March 2018, Smith Medical launched the US FDA approved Delta Med SpA’s DeltaVen Closed System Catheter. DeltaVen is the next advancement in the Peripheral IV Catheters (PIVC). This catheter offers the needle, extension tubing, and an option for a needleless connector in an “all in one” catheter. The DeltaVen Closed System Catheter facilitates physicians to feel the insertion of a closed system catheter with easy threading and enables them to see the full range of configurations and gauge sizes to meet their needs. The launch of these catheters is expected to drive the growth of the global intravascular catheters market.
