Global Radar and Electronic Warfare Market To Reach $63.4 Billion by 2035

Published: Oct 2026

The global radar and electronic warfare market is estimated at $33.8 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $63.4 billion by 2035, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.5% from 2026 to 2035. These figures are derived from a provisional bottom-up product-revenue model, with a 2026 baseline of $36.0 billion. The market covers commercially sold radar systems and subsystems, antennas, RF transmitters and receivers, electronic attack and jamming equipment, electronic protection systems, self-protection and countermeasure products, EW pods, and radar signal-processing products. Professional services and unrelated defense-system revenue are excluded.

A key growth driver is rising military expenditure and the need to detect, identify, track, and counter increasingly sophisticated aerial and electronic threats. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), global military expenditure reached $2.718 trillion in 2024, an increase of 9.4% in real terms compared with 2023—the steepest annual increase since the end of the Cold War. This expansion in defense budgets supports procurement of surveillance radars, airborne warning systems, electronic attack equipment, and countermeasure technologies, although military spending is broader than the addressable market itself.

Product development is increasingly focused on advanced electronically scanned arrays, broader frequency coverage, faster signal processing, and integrated electronic warfare capabilities. On October 1, 2024, Raytheon received a $192 million U.S. Navy contract to expand the frequency range of its Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band system to counter additional threats. On December 5, 2024, Raytheon announced a $590 million follow-on production contract for the same jammer program, supporting production for the U.S. Navy and Australia’s Royal Australian Air Force.

On October 15, 2024, Lockheed Martin announced work on the U.S. Army’s APR-48B Radar Frequency Interferometer/Radar Warning Receiver, intended to improve threat detection and situational awareness for Apache helicopters. On September 23, 2025, Raytheon announced its APG-82(V)X radar development, featuring gallium nitride technology and enhanced processing for air-to-air, air-to-ground, and electronic warfare missions.

On December 18, 2025, Leonardo announced a contract with Italy’s TELEDIFE to develop and deliver four next-generation radars for countering long-range ballistic threats as part of the Michelangelo Dome integrated defense initiative. These programs illustrate manufacturers’ emphasis on advanced sensing, multi-mission performance, and layered air and missile defense.

Competition includes established defense-electronics suppliers such as RTX, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Leonardo, Thales, Saab, HENSOLDT, and BAE Systems. Their strategies center on product upgrades, domestic production capabilities, technology partnerships, and integration of radar with electronic support and electronic attack systems. Procurement timelines, export controls, component availability, and system interoperability remain important constraints on market growth.
