Rising Health Concerns and Government Initiatives Driving Water Dispenser Market Growth

Published: Nov 2025

Water dispenser market was valued at $3.34 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $7.58 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 8.5% during the forecast period (2026-2035). The market growth is driven by the increase in the demand for clean drinking water appliances owing to the rise in the number of waterborne diseases. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year in the US, waterborne pathogens cause an estimated 7.15 million illnesses, 118,000 hospitalizations, and 6,630 mortalities, resulting in $3.33 billion in direct health care costs. Drinking water exposures are associated with 40% of hospitalizations and 50% of mortality and are primarily linked with biofilm pathogens such as Legionella and nontuberculous mycobacteria.

Rapid, unsustainable urban, industrial, agricultural, and other infrastructural development causes water pollution, limiting freshwater availability globally. To overcome these challenges, various government initiatives have been undertaken to protect human health.  For instance, the Water Resources Act, a regulation in Germany, aims to protect nature's water balance in the interest of sustainable development. It sets the legal framework for the use and protection of water as a resource. In connection with water dispensers, the WHG primarily concerns the quantity and quality of water and its increased availability to citizens.

  • In June 2025, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) planned to install in-built water purification systems, reverse osmosis (RO) technology, and cold water dispensers, expanding drinking water facilities citywide.
  • The German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU) provided $174 million (€150 million) in funding for the installation of water dispensers with a fixed water connection.
