Urban Digitalisation and Network Expansion Drive India’s $2.3B Smart Transport

Published: Jan 2026

The India smart transportation market stood at $0.78 billion in 2025 and is expected to grow to $2.3 billion by 2035, registering a CAGR of 11.6% over the 2026–2035 period. India’s smart transportation evolution is increasingly shaped by the rapid adoption of digital travel systems and expanding transport networks that address mobility demand across modes. As urban populations grow and travel patterns become more complex, national and city authorities are integrating digital ticketing, real-time information, and automated tolling into core transport infrastructure. These shifts are not only improving passenger convenience and operational efficiency but also enabling interoperable systems that span railways, metros, buses, and highways. The focus on digital and network-level transformation is emerging as a key driver that supports market expansion across ticketing management systems, advanced traffic control, and seamless multimodal connectivity.
