India hand tool market was valued at $825 million in 2025 and is projected to reach $1,372 million in 2035, growing at a CAGR of 4.4% during the forecast period (2026-2035). India is looking to enhance its share in the global hand and power tool market with a target of $25 billion in exports by 2035. A NITI Aayog report shows India can capture 10% of the global power tool market and 25% of the hand tool market. The central and state governments provide manufacturers with various schemes to assist them. The Indian government assists tool exporters primarily through two schemes. The Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) grants rebates to relieve taxes and duties on exports—1.1% of FOB for hand tools and 0.9% for power tools—and improve their ability to compete globally.

Punjab – Under the Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022, has identified hand tools as a key focus sector. Their policy offers a 50% capital subsidy (up to ?50 lakh per unit), interest subsidies of 8% for startups and 5% for MSMEs, freight assistance up to 1% of FOB value, 100% electricity duty exemption for 7 years, and 100% stamp duty exemption/reimbursement on purchase or lease of land and buildings.

Maharashtra – Through its Package Scheme of Incentives 2016, Industrial Policy 2019, and Export Promotion Policy 2023, provides location-based power tariff subsidies of ?0.5–1 per unit for three years, 5% annual interest subsidy in underdeveloped regions (capped to annual electricity bills), and an export incentive of 1% on incremental export turnover for the first five years.
