In January 2024, Ford Motor filed a patent for a system that controls object components based on user biometric data. The system allows authorized users to access the object and permits a second user to access it within a certain time frame after the first user leaves. The second user’s biometric data is then used to determine their authorization status and control the object components accordingly.

Additionally, in August 2023, TECH5 received a US patent for its T5-AirSnap Finger solution, which uses neural networks and machine learning algorithms to capture fingerprints. The patent protects the T5-AirSnap Finger's technology, which is used to capture and prepare biometric data for further processing. 

As of January 2022, LG Electronics has been working on a new biometric ignition system that would allow drivers to start their vehicles with touchless facial expressions or hand gestures. The biometric ignition feature would be part of a more comprehensive in-car camera setup.
