Further, traditional blood glucose monitoring systems show glucose levels only at a specific point in time which has limited value as the user cannot estimate the glucose levels before or in the hours after the test. The device uses sensor technology to be able to record the glucose molecules inside the body. In November 2020, Abbott laboratories launched the FreeStyle Libre system in India. It is a continuous glucose monitoring device which tracks blood glucose levels in blood with the minimum invasive method. In 2019, Nemaura, a UK-based medical technology company launched, sugarBEAT wearable sensor platform, which received C.E. approval 2019 and is a non-invasive CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) where the sensor is attached to the upper arm. It is a non-invasive device and does not require the sensor to be inserted inside the skin. The user can monitor glucose levels through the wearable sensor in real-time without having to scan the device or any other intervention. After its launch in Europe, Nemaura is further planning launches in Germany, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
