How Rising Global IAMD Investments and Large-Scale Radar Procurement Programs Accelerating the Military Radars Market to Reach $26.6 Billion by 2035

Published: Dec 2025

Military radars market was valued at $15.1 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $26.6 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 5.8% during the forecast period (2026-2035). The global push to strengthen integrated air and missile defence (IAMD) against advanced aerial, missile, and drone threats, supported by significant, measurable increases in radar-focused defence spending by major governments, has accelerated market growth. In 2024, European NATO Allies and Canada together invested $485 billion in defence, with a growing share earmarked for equipment and capability upgrades, including air and missile defence sensors.

NATO’s 2024 Air and Missile Defence posture report clearly calls for enhancing surveillance, interceptors, and command and control systems, and introduces an IAMD Rotational Model to deploy modern air-defence assets heavily radar-centric along the Alliance’s eastern flank. According to the Arms Control Association, the US Army is fielding the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS), a multifunction, 360° radar intended to replace Patriot radars and improve detection of cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones. These programs boost demand for L-, S-, and C-band radars for tracking & fire control and surveillance, and for space end-user solutions via space-based sensors.

  • In July 2025, the MoD signed another contract of roughly ?2,000 crore ($230.4 million)with BEL for Air Defence Fire Control Radars for the Indian Army under the Buy (Indian–IDDM) category, with at least 70% indigenous content.
  • In December 2023, the Ministry of Defence contracted with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) worth ?17,176 crore ($2.07 billion), including a deal of over ?2,800 crore ($337 million) to supply ‘Arudhra’ medium-power surveillance radars to the Indian Air Force.
