Tonic water market is growing significantly during the forecast period. A carbonated soft drink with quinine dissolved in it is referred to as tonic water. Tonic water generally has a significant amount of quinine content and is consumed mainly due to its distinctive bitter taste. It is often consumed with regular content which is non-flavored or combined with fruit juice or alcoholic drinks, mainly in gin and other tonics. The tonic water industry is driven by the rising disposable income of people due to modernization, promotion of tonic water as a mixer with alcohol, increasing the popularity of tonic water because of the availability of different variants across the globe. As per the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the country’s per capita disposable income stood at $1,265 in the first three months, up 6.8% year-on-year in real terms. Urban and rural per capita disposable income reached nearly $1,735 and $686 in the first quarter this year, up 5.9% and 6.9% in real terms, respectively. Chinese per capita consumer spending increased by 5.4% year-on-year in real terms to reach nearly $826 in the first quarter of 2019. As per the WHO, in 2016, an average of 170 grams per capita of alcohol is consumed per week in Europe. Men consume 18.3 liters of pure alcohol in a week whereas women consume 4.7 liters of alcohol in a week. The high consumption of alcohol is expected to contribute to the growth of the market as tonic water is used as a mixer with alcohol.

For fulfilling the growing demand for tonic water due to the rising disposable income across the globe the key players of the tonic water market are focusing on introducing various new tonic water products that are different in terms of pricing, texture, flavor, and packing. This fact can be further supported by the launch of products containing chocolate, lemongrass, and pomegranate as ingredients.  For instance, in June 2018, Fever Tree company launched a pink aromatic tonic in the US market. In July 2018, Percival & Co. had launched alcoholic elderflower tonic water in the US market.
