The global intrauterine contraceptive coil market is expected to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period (2021-2027). The major drivers of the intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD) market are technological advancements that result in effective contraception with fewer side effects, an increase in the number of unintended pregnancies, and supportive government and private sector initiatives to prevent unwanted abortions and pregnancies. An unwanted conception is referred to as unintended pregnancy. Unintentional pregnancy can occur if contraception is not used or is used incorrectly. Teenagers under the age of 18 had the highest rate of unwanted pregnancies, followed by women between the ages of 20 and 24. These unintended pregnancies are directly linked to an increase in contraceptive device demand.

Furthermore, the number of unplanned pregnancies is rising, and this has become a major global concern. Unintended pregnancies, for example, are a major public health concern, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations' 2018 study, around 22 million unsafe abortions occur globally each year, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 47,000 women. However, increased contraception awareness has contributed to a decrease in unintended pregnancies as well as the growth of the contraception business in recent years. Increased availability of intrauterine contraceptive coils, as well as other family planning measures, can help prevent unplanned pregnancies. The usage of IUDs reduced the number of unintended pregnancies. IUD use is rising year after year as women discover it to be the most convenient, safe, and efficient method of contraception.

According to a study published in the Middle East Fertility Society Journal in April 2021 by Ghzl Ghazi Alenezi et al., most women in the urban Hail population in northern Saudi Arabia are aware of family planning and have a good attitude toward it. About two-thirds of the population were now utilising some form of contraception, which is higher than the Saudi Arabian national estimate. As a result, the market being investigated is projected to be driven by the global increase in unwanted pregnancies. However, the risks of inducing pelvic inflammatory infection (PID) are likely to hinder market growth in the near future.
