Italy electric vehicle charger market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of around 20.0% during the forecast period, 2019-2025. Various subsidies are offered by the government for electric or hybrid vehicles in the country which is likely to augment the regional growth of the market. The country has introduced an ‘éco tax’ between March 2019 to December 2021 as a penalty for using a polluting vehicle in order to discourage the use of IC engines. Moreover, the government is providing a subsidiary of $4,400 for the vehicle that has CO2 emission rating of up to 70 g/km whereas a subsidy of $1,650 for vehicles that emit between 21 and 70 g/km. An additional incentive is provided when the older vehicle is scrapped. These schemes are active for the period between March 2019 and December 2021. Moreover, there is also provision to provide a subsidy of 50% of up to $3,300 for the installation of EV chargers. These incentives are expected to provide considerable growth to the market in the country. As per the International Energy Agency, there are around 9,000 charging points in the country already developed or under development. Among those, around 80% of the total charging points are private.
