The global mobile mapping market is estimated to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period. Mobile Mapping Systems are moving platform that combines multiple navigations and remote sensing technologies. They can collect data quickly, efficiently, and completely. MMS typically consists of three primary components: a location system, camera(s), and lidar. GPS/GNSS and inertial measurement units are used for positioning. Data may be recorded continually and correctly utilising these technologies. The photos are captured using RGB cameras with a CMOS global shutter or CCD sensor, which capture coloured images of people and objects. Light Detection and Ranging, or Lidar, is a distant sensing technique that employs pulsed laser light to estimate distances to the Earth.

Mobile mapping systems are a precise way to collect geospatial data from mobile vehicles. Depending on the end-use application, the system may include location sensors, laser scanners, LiDAR, radar mounted digital cameras, or a variety of remote sensing devices installed on movable platforms such as boats, SUVs, and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). 3D mobile mapping is one of the most important geospatial technology today that can alter the way surroundings are viewed, measured, analysed, and categorised.

For Instance, In February 2019, Microsoft Corp. has partnered with a Dutch mapping business,  TomTom NV, to offer Microsoft Azure customers access to build location-aware apps and extend high-quality location solutions to increase its customer base. TomTom's map data and services were made available to Azure Maps, a service that enables businesses and developers to construct map-based software and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
