The global botnet detection market is expected to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period (2021-2027). Botnet detection has gotten a lot of attention from cybersecurity experts and tech companies all around the globe. A botnet is a network of linked devices that communicate over the internet, usually consisting of infected workstations and servers that have been infected with malicious or ill-disposed software and malware. Botnets are controlled by a single attacker or a group of attackers who primarily  utilize them for criminal or malevolent purposes. As technology advances around the globe, the risk of modern technology being misused has increased in recent years. Botnet attacks are an instance of a breach of a user's privacy in which a third party controls and manages the user's machine. Owing to the hackers' increasing ability to infect any device connected to the internet anywhere on the planet, the botnet has emerged as one of the most serious threats.

Intruders can utilise infected systems or bots to launch distributed denial of service (DDOS) assaults, large-scale spam marketing, extensive data thefts or duplicities, and overload servers, to mention a few, by using the allegedly limitless processing capacity of endpoints via the linked network. These factors paved the way for the rapid development of different botnet detection tools and approaches.

As the number of botnet attacks is rapidly increasing, demand for botnet prevention is projected to rise. In July 2018, for instance, security firms Qihoo, 360 Netlab, and Rapid7 discovered that a group of hackers had allegedly infiltrated roughly 18,000 Huawei routers. Companies are putting in place measures, in particular, to mitigate the impact of botnet attacks like DDoS. For instance, Alibaba announced in July 2018 that it would open a DDoS attack mitigation centre in Malaysia by August 2018. This is likely to increase the use of botnet protection systems, resulting in increased market growth. Botnet attacks, in particular, are wreaking havoc on a variety of businesses, including gaming.
